Why Tai Er 太二?
They say we’re too serious about food. We take that as a compliment. It all started with our founder — the kind of person who:
- Practically lived in an apron
- Ran hundreds of tests to perfect the exact number of seconds fish should be cooked
- Believed that pickled greens could break his heart
His motto? “Focus on the food. The rest will follow.”
Guests noticed. After tasting the food, they’d smile and say, “You guys are 太二!” (It means taking things way too far — and in the best way possible.)
We embraced it. Made it our name. And turned it into our daily reminder:

About Sauerkraut
At Tai Er, we take fermentation seriously — and our signature sauerkraut (酸菜) is at the heart of it all. We use a traditional fermentation method passed down through generations, relying only on pure salt and sugar—never chemical additives. Every batch is naturally aged in classic clay jars for 23 days under carefully controlled temperature and humidity to ensure depth of flavor, safety, and consistency.
Only premium small-leaf mustard greens are chosen for their crisp texture and bright flavor — far superior to common large-leaf varieties. The result? A tangy, fragrant suancai that’s clean, complex, and refreshingly addictive
